Published in 1986, it follows the story of a young woman who leaves her life of near servitude in her mother's hat shop after she has been cursed to look like an old woman, and ends up living with a very powerful and mysterious sorcerer. Howl's Moving Castle is the first novel to be written in the series. All of the books are written by Dianne Wynn Jones. The Castle Series is the name of the series of books that follow the lives of Howl Jenkins Pendragon, Sophie Hatter, their Fire Demon Calcifer, and their Moving Castle. ![]()
